CHENNAI: The battered city landscape began to brighten up on Saturday as receding waters from residential areas enabled restoration of  power supply in various areas.

On Friday evening and Saturday, power was resumed in Mylapore, Nungambakkam, Adyar, Besant Nagar, Kodungaiyur, Perambur, MKB Nagar. But electricity was cut off in several areas which remain inundated. A few areas like Ashok Nagar, Nesapakkam, Ramapuram, KK Nagar, West Mambalam, Kotturpuram, Thiru Vi Ka Nagar, Pulianthope, parts of Villivakkam, Saidapet, Velachery continue to be unlit as the inundation prevented restoration of power supply.

“We are restoring electricity in some places in zone 6 currently,” a TNEB official told reporters.
