S Rly Cancels 12 Express Trains

Chennai: Southern Railway has cancelled 12 express trains on Tuesday. The trains cancelled are Chennai Central-Mumbai CST Express, Chennai Central-New Delhi GT Express, Chennai Central-New Delhi Tamil Nadu Express, Chennai Egmore-Gaya Express, Chennai-Thoothukudi Link Express, Salem-Chennai Egmore Express, Coimbatore-Chennai Central Express, Kollam-Chennai Express, Trivandrum Central-Guwahati Express, Trivandrum Central-Gorakhpur Jn Express, Alleppey-Dhanbad Express and Ernakulam Jn-Patna Express.  A Railway press release said three special trains would be run to clear the extra rush. Train No.02836 Ernakulam-Howrah Special fare special train will leave Ernakulam at 08.50 hrs on 08.12.2015. Train No.02853 Howrah-Ernakulam superfast ‘Suvidha’ weekly special train will leave Howrah at 17.00 hrs on Saturdays from 12.12.2015 to 26.12.2015. Train No.02854 Ernakulam-Howrah superfast ‘Suvidha’ weekly special train will leave Ernakulam at 08.50 hrs on Tuesdays from 15.12.2015 to 29.12.2015. 

70L Take Free-ride on MTC Buses

Chennai: Around 70 lakh passengers commuted on MTC buses free of cost on December 5 and 6. On December 5, around 35.21 lakh passengers commuted while on December 6, 34.54 lakh did.  

Lakes Around OMR Are Safe: Govt

Chennai: Karani lake, Thaiyur Big lake, Siruthavur lake, Kondangi lake and Manamathi lake in Kancheepuram district located around Old Mahabalipuram Road remain safe, according to an official release. Personnel from Public Works Department are constantly patrolling these lakes, the release added. 

23-year-old Man’s Organs Donated

Chennai: The organs of a 23-year-old who was declared brain dead by doctors at a private hospital here, were harvested and transplanted to different patients. According to a press release, M Saravanan, a mechanical engineer from Perambalur, met with a road accident and suffered head injury on November 18. He was declared brain dead on November 24 at Sri Ramachandra Medical Centre, Porur, where he was admitted.

Exam Rescheduled

Chennai: Sri Ramachandra University has re-rescheduled all examinations for various courses in view of holidays already declared on account of heavy rains. According to a press release, the students can access the revised schedule on the website www.sriramachandra.edu.in.
