CHENNAI: A 39-year-old design engineer was arrested after he reportedly drove away with a car from used cars dealer on Wednesday.
Police said Josaiyya Abraham of Permabur, gave his Toyota Innova car to his friend Damodharan who runs a used car selling firm in Rajamangalam. Damodharan has parked the car in front of his firm for display. On December 6, he found the car missing and contacted Abraham who later lodged a complaint with Rajamangalam Police.
Police collected the footage from the surveillance cameras installed in the neighbourhood. Investigations led to one Suresh, resident of KC Thottam, Peravallur, and the car was recovered from his possession.
Suresh had worked with a Korean car manufacturing conglomerate, before floating his company. He started working as a consultant on car designs and had an office at home. Suresh told the cops that it was his maiden attempt.
“Though there are no adverse antecedents about Suresh in police records, we will ascertain it,” said a senior police official.
