IOB reaches Out With Mobile ATMS

CHENNAI: Swiping one’s card anywhere wasn’t an option during the floods. And with ATMs empty, a majority of residents had to rely on what was in their wallets to make it through last week. Stepping up to help, Indian Overseas Bank’s Mobile ATM has been visiting areas like Chennai Central, Egmore Railway Station, Tiruvanmiyur, Ekkatuthangal, Defence Colony, KK Nagar Depot and MGR Market. As a result of this effort, `48.34 lakh was given to 1,030 beneficiaries. The bank has also provided POS machines to seven of their branches to enable them to disburse cash to holders of other bank cards in flood effected areas like Tiruvanmiyur and Semmananchery. A statement from IOB says, the bank would visit areas where there are no ATMs till the situation normalises. (TN CM Relief a/c is opened with the IOB Secretariat branch Account No. 117201000000070.
