23-year-old Man From Chennai Attempts to Join ISIS; Reaches Sudan, Gets Deported

A 23-year-old resident of Chennai was arrested by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) for allegedly attempting to join the terror outfit ISIS.

As reported by a leading newspaper, Mohammed Naser Packeer who is a computer expert was in Dubai earlier this year and made contacts with an IS recruiter known as 'Mad Mullah.'

Following this interaction, Packeer was asked to reach Sudan from where he was promised to be taken to Libya. The necessary visa arrangements were made and dispatched to Dubai by Mad Mullah.

However, the Sudanese authorities detained and deported Packeer to India after they found him suspecious.

While the NIA has managed to stop over 60 Indians from joining the terror group, this turns out to be the first incident where an Indian was being deployed in Libya by the ISIS.
