'Chettiar Family Takes Great Efforts to Revive Tamil Isai'

The 73rd Tamil Isai Festival was celebrated in the city on Monday. Musicians Vedaranyam S Muthukumarasamy Desigar and AK Palanivel were awarded for their work. They received the titles Isaiperaringar and Pann Isaiperaringar respectively from Tamil lyricist Vairamuthu, who was the chief guest at the function organised by Tamil Isai Sangam. Student-winners of music performances were also awarded at the function. Justice Gokulakrishnan, the president of the Sangam, and AC Muthiah, secretary, were present. Speaking at the occasion, Vairamuthu said, “Tamil Isai is unique as it is the only one with  meaning, tradition and history. It is important to preserve it, and the Chettiar family has taken great efforts to revive it over the years.”
