CHENNAI: A 24-year-old diplomaate was arrested on Tuesday for sexually abusing a 10-year-old girl in the elevator of an apartment complex.
The accused, Megadurai holds a diploma in civil engineering and is also a resident of the apartment complex, police said. “He along with few other employees of his company were allotted an apartment in the same complex and was living there,” New Washermanpet Inspector Balakrishna Prabhu said.
On Monday, when the girl entered the elevator, Megadurai misbehaved with her and abused her. The girl went out crying and complained to her parents after which the cops were informed. New Washermanpet police rushed to the scene and arrested Megadurai after investigations. A case under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) was registered against him and he was remanded in judicial custody.
