Four Youth Arrested for Stealing Vehicles in City

CHENNAI:  The city police on Friday arrested four youth on the charge of stealing vehicles in and around Maduravoyal and Koyambedu.                 

Police claimed they recovered 33 stolen two-wheelers and one auto from the four. All the four accused, Karthi (23), Rajasekar (24), Saravannan (20) and Mubarak (20) were from Maduravoyal.   

The police said the accused were nabbed at the toll plaza on Maduravoyal Bypass Road during a routine vehicle check.

Advocate Dies in Road Mishap

An advocate from Saathur, Virudhunagar district, practicing in Madras High Court died in a road accident on Thursday.

Police said Kamaraj (39), from Triplicane met with the accident on Thursday night when he fell off his two-wheeler after it and another motorcycle collided head-on.

He was taken Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital where he died on Friday morning despite.

Man Kills Wife After Quarrel

The city police arrested a 58-year-old man who allegedly killed his wife after a domestic squabble over his drinking habit.

  On Thursday night at the couple’s house in Kolapakkam, Mangadu the accused, Mayandi (58), returned home drunk and dropped a heavy rock on his sleeping wife Mayee’s (50) head. 

Malaisamy, the couple’s son, informed the police about the murder and Mayandai fled the scene. Mayee’s body was sent to Kilpauk Government Hospital for autopsy. A murder case was registered and Mayandi was arrested on Friday

Suspect Held in Murder Case

The Organised Crime Intelligence Unit (OCIU) on Friday arrested a suspect wanted in connection with a businessman’s murder on July 19, 2015.

The suspect C Prakash (35), of Madurai, was nabbed from a hideout in Avadi early morning Friday.

Police sources said that he was suspected in the murder of one R Mohammad Yasin in Vilakkuthoon police station limits, Madurai district.

His role is also suspected in a 2014 murder also.

He was handed over to the Madurai police officials for further investigations into the case probe.
