Abdur Rahman Univ's Relief Drive

The distribution of education support materials (three notebooks, pen, pencil, eraser, sharpener and a pouch) by the staff of B S Abdur Rahman University took place recently. The material was distributed to students of government schools around the university from December 21. The vice chancellor, registrar and director (admissions) accompanied the staff and distributed the materials to students of six schools. Many staff members went to the remaining schools and distributed the items to the students. The staff contributed Rs 1.2 lakh to almost 17 government schools in Vandalur, Urapakkam and Guduvanchery. It has benefitted 2,952 students. 

MOP's Business Bazaar

As part of a year-on-year approach to help students of finance and management get hands on experience on how to setup and manage their own business as part of the annual entrepreneurship fest, a business bazaar was set up at MOP College for Women last weekend. With over 96 stalls spread across the open air theatre of the college, and 3-4 members per team, students got a sense of entrepreneurship in all forms, from  production to cash management to resource allocation and handling, over the course of the two-day festival. 

SpiceJet Offers Rs 716 Base Fare

SpiceJet offers one-way base fares starting from Rs 716 plus taxes, until December 31 for the travel period from January 15 to April 12. It is valid only for travel on direct flights on SpiceJet's domestic network.Flyers can, therefore, avail these fares to plan their domestic travel well in advance. Tickets for this sale can be booked on all channels of SpiceJet. Tickets under this offer are refundable (only taxes and fees) and changeable with a change fee and payment of fare difference.  

IIT Madras Alumni Pledge Rs 8 cr

After the reunion of 1964 batch graduates last year, it was celebration time for the 1990 batch this year as they got together to rejoice a silver reunion. Over 300 IITM alumni from across batches gathered with families at their Alma Mater to celebrate the institute. As a ‘give-back’ gesture to IIT Madras, the 1990 batch pledged an amount of Rs 8 crore, over a period, to the institution for academic research. The event was titled ‘IITM: Centre of the Academic Firmament’.

Air India’s New Year Offers

Air India has announced two special schemes for passengers. Under the New Year Special offer, passengers will get an all inclusive one way fare of Rs 5,016 for travel between metros on flights departing between 8pm on December 31 and 8am on January 1. Under the Lucky First scheme, valid for travel between January 1-15, passengers travelling in Economy or Business class on Air India B777 flights on Delhi-Mumbai-Delhi sector will stand a chance to win an Upgrade to First Class.
