‘Don’t Renew Lease of K’Giri Temple Property’

CHENNAI: Social worker S Ramanathan, who is also the District Chairman of Kisan-Khetamazoor Congress in Pochampalli in Krishnagiri district, has appealed to the Hindu Religious Charitable and Endowment (HR&CE) department not to renew the lease of a property belonging to Sri Karaga Chamundeswari temple in Boganapalli village in favour of one KN Zenith Nataraj.

In his appeal, Ramanathan alleged irregularities in the allotment of the prime property measuring 4,400 sq.ft. on Chennai Road to the individual by the temple Trustee/Executive Officer N Sivakumar for a paultry monthly rent.

The market rate is `10,000 per sq.ft. Sec. 34-A of the HR&CE Act has been violated in the allotment, the lease of which is coming to an end on January 31 this year, he further alleged and appealed to the HR&CE Commissioner not to renew the lease in favour of Nataraj, who is running a two-wheeler show room, to recover the difference in the rent and to take departmental action against the EO.
