CHENNAI: A 15-month-old girl baby, who crawled to the street while her mother was chatting with relatives at the doorstep, was run over by a reversing car at Thiruverkadu on May 1.
The child, after battling for life for three days in hospital, succumbed to injuries on Monday night.
I Preethi, daughter of Ilavarasan (30) and Annalakshmi (26) of Periyakuppam, Tiruvallur, was in her maternal grandmother’s house at Sundara Cholapuram in Thiruverkadu, when the accident took place.
On the day of the mishap, Annalakshmi was chatting with her relatives at the entrance of the house when the child went to the street. She noticed the child only on hearing her scream when she was run over. The child was referred to the Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital, where she died. The Poonamallee traffic investigation wing has registered a case.
