Time to Make a Date with Your Mother

CHENNAI: You know you’ve won the lottery, when you come home to a hug from your mom. So, as Mother’s Day falls on May 10, perhaps take a moment or, for that matter, the entire day for the person who brought you into the world.

Even as you wrack your brains to find that golden idea, CE brings you five things that our mommies say they would love to have for Mother’s Day. And when it’s from the mother of a reporter, well let’s just say, quality time is usually right on top of the list given our erratic schedules. But hey, pass over a cliche greeting card and make your own rules. Or why not just ask, ‘Amma what do you want to do on Sunday?’

Our mothers blushed a little before they said:

- My daughter usually takes me out on a lunch or dinner date. And no, before you ask, I don’t miss the cooking!

- I want to go sari shopping. I have a rainbow of shades in my cupboard, and none of my daughters can say no to shopping with me because when we go out, it invariably means they get saris too. - I just want to sleep all day. Chellam, I know you are engaged now and have to keep on talking, so please put your phone on silent.

-  I want to watch Malayalam serials all day, while my husband and daughter bring me lunch and dinner. Please for heaven sake, learn to make Avial.

- I want to go dancing, but I would probably be the oldest person there. No matter, if you come as my partner, it should even out the scales!
