Knocked Down by MTC Bus, Biker stones it

CHENNAI: An irate motorist stoned an MTC bus after being knocked down by the vehicle in Villivakkam, on Saturday afternoon.

Police said the 48C bus, plying between Vallalar Nagar and CMBT, was moving along the Nathamuni bus stop when the incident occurred. As the two wheeler was damaged, the motorist, Jeganathan of the area and the bus driver, Rajini (27) of Avadi, had an altercation. Even as they hurled abuses at each other, Jegannathan took a stone and hurled it on the bus, in which two passengers suffered injuries.

The driver and the two-wheeler rider preferred complaints against each other at Villivakkam Police Station. After a round of talks with the transport department and the group supporting Jegannathan, both the parties decided not to press with the complaints. The injured women neither lodged complaints nor opted to get treated at the GH, police said. Traffic was held up for close to half an hour at Nathamuni junction, leading to a long line up of vehicles as police reportedly failed to move the bus from the middle of the road. When questioned, a policeman, identified as Padmanaban, allegedly chided a mediaperson, daring him to publish his name.
