Two Murder Accused on Run Caught After a Year

CHENNAI: Two history sheeters absconding for nearly a year, with several murder cases pending against them, were arrested by the City Police on Sunday.

Raj alias Pilikiraj (24) of Ennore and Murugan alias Theechatti Murugan (32) of TP Chathiram were nabbed based on a tip off.

The two allegedly have nexus with notorious gang leaders ‘Bomb’ Saravanan and Dakshinamoorthy.

Including the murder for gain cases in 2003, 2009 and 2013, Murugan is wanted in 10 cases and was arrested thrice under the Goondas Act before. He was released from prison in 2014 and since then had been absconding.

Pilikiraj is also a notorious criminal wanted in cases including a country bomb attack on rowdy Ennore Dhanasekhar, and a murder in Cholavaram area, along with eight of his associates.

He too was released from prison in 2014 and had been absconding for 10 months since. Both were together plotting a revenge murder after coming out of prison, sources said. The arrested were taken to the TP Chathiram and Ennore police stations.
