Know Train Timings on Google Map

CHENNAI: Now, finding out how to get from one city to another using public transport is just a matter of whipping out your smartphone. The route is literally at your fingertips.

Google, in its official Indian blog, announced on Tuesday that its Maps application will now contain information about Indian Railway Schedules along with updated bus and metro information.

Google Transit, part of Maps, is all set to make life easier for those who use public transport to get to other cities. The application will be updated to include the Indian Railway Schedules for 12,000 Indian trains and also metro information from cities like Chennai, Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, New Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai and Pune.

Users simply have to key in their destinations by clicking on ‘Get Directions’ button and select the ‘Public Transit’ icon to find information about possible bus, metro or train links. The update to Google Transit will also give users walking directions to transit points and point-to-point directions. The update will also have a transit mode that will show train routes and all train stops.

“If you want to see everything at a glance, the Schedule Explorer menu on desktop helps you see and scroll through all the options,” Suren Ruhela, Director, Program Management, Google Maps said on the Google India Blog.
