Tourist Train to Varanasi, Via Chennai

CHENNAI: Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has announced a Bharat Darshan tourist train this summer. It will cover pilgrimage sites in North India like Varanasi and Gaya as well as tourist hotspots like Agra.

The tour comes as a package which costs Rs 9,940 per person and starts from Madurai via Dindigul, Karur, Erode, Salem and Chennai from June 15. Covering Jaipur, Delhi, Agra, Mathura, Varanasi and Gaya, the tour ends on June 26 at Madurai.  The total package includes a sleeper class train journey in an exclusive train for tourists, hall accommodation, South Indian vegetarian food and a tour escort. “Special high quality LHB coaches will be carrying the passengers,” an IRCTC official said.

Central and State Government employees can avail LTC for the pilgrimage tour. For reservations, calls can be made to the IRCTC tourism and facilitation centre at 9003140681/9003140714.
