Policemen Hot On Trail of 'Neeravi'

CHENNAI:A special team pursuing the crimes allegedly committed by notorious criminal ‘Neeravi’ Murugan has spread its net to nab two of his accomplices, who they believe, have information where the loot has been stashed.

After a video circulating on social media showed Murugan threatening a woman with a knife at MCN Nagar in Thoraipakkam, police swung into action and arrested him.

According to police, sustained interrogation revealed that he was involved in a series of waylaying and chain snatching incidents across the city. They claim that his involvement in such crimes in Madipakkam, Keelkattalai and Puzhuthivakkam, has been established.

Officials believe that Murugan might have stashed some of the jewellery he robbed in Tirunelveli.

“It appears that there were two more persons who were party to the crimes. The duo has gone underground following his arrest. We are trying to locate them. We suspect that they might have information as to where Murugan has safely kept his booty,” a senior police official said.
