Where Bodycons, Blue Blazers Rule

Where Bodycons, Blue Blazers Rule

With both established and budding designers coming up with spring summer collections this season, little did 27-year-old Ashok Kumar know that his debut collection would meet success. With models sporting his designs under the title Enim, which was launched on Thursday, the designer was excited to see his work receive appreciation from those gathered at Clairon Hotel, RK Salai.

Models sashayed on the ramp, wearing bright and sprightly shades of yellow and blue among others, typical of any spring and summer collection. Patterned and plain gowns for women and mostly plain shirts and blazers for men seemed to be the favourites that evening.

About the collection, Ashok explains, “For women, my spring and summer collection includes bodycons in bright colours. They are mostly party wear, and include floral prints. For men, there are different colours of blazers and shirts that go well with jeans. There are blazers in unconventional colours like blue and green, unlike the usual black or white.”

Visibly thrilled to see his collection make it to a solo show, Ashok, who is at a loss for words to explain more, says that one can expect more of his collection in future and that he has plans of launching an online portal for his collection. He believes that this will profit him more than setting up a shop with his designed clothes. “Now, everyone shops online and if I set up a portal, there is a greater chance of people taking a look at my work, than with a physical shop in a city. It will come up soon and will include the ones displayed today as well,” he signs off on a positive note.
