Power Use Shoots Up

CHENNAI:With temperatures on the rise, power consumption in the State also rose on Thursday and Friday according to daily-load figures. While the consumption on Tuesday and Wednesday was 238 and 248 Million Units (MU) respectively, it shot up to 265 MU on Thursday and 273 MU on Friday. Thursday was reportedly the hottest day in the month so far with temperatures crossing the 40 degree Celsius mark spurring the use of air-conditioners and fans.

The all-time high of 294 Million Units of consumption in the State was set on June 20 in 2014, which has not been broken, as of yet, this year.
