Upset with Wife, Tipsy Man Tramples Sons

CHENNAI:  A 40-year-old man was arrested for killing his two minor sons by trampling on their necks while they were sleeping in their home at Chaittrambakkam village near Tiruvallur.

Police said they arrested P Anbu after villagers alerted them about the incident on Saturday. Anbu confessed that he was drunk when he trampled on the necks of his sons, Gokul (5) and Veeramani (7), in a fit of rage following a quarrel with his estranged wife.

“Due to differences in the family, Anbu’s wife Amulu got separated from him and was living with her mother in a nearby village. On Saturday morning, Anbu visited her and asked her to return. As she refused, he took the two children with him. After that he got drunk and killed the children,” Kadambathur police said.

Soon after assaulting his sons, Anbu took them by an auto to a nearby hospital where doctors said they  were dead. “He took the bodies back to the house and began crying in front of villagers that he had killed his sons,” police added.

Alerted by the villagers, police took the bodies and arrested Anbu for murder.Anbu told police that he got angry thinking about his wife and had not realised  the consequences of his actions.
