No Bail for Trio in Muthiah Threat Case

CHENNAI:A sessions court here dismissed the anticipatory bail applications of three persons who apprehended arrest in connection with the alleged death threat to Managing Director of Chettinad Cement, MAMR Muthiah.

On May 24, P Alagu, security officer of Chettinad Palace in MRC Nagar, registered a complaint with Pattinapakkam police station alleging that at around 8.30 am, a group of 30 men carrying lethal weapons, led by a man named James, held out a death threat to MAMR Muthiah and tried to attack him.

He further alleged that the group acted at the instance of Rajendran, a close aide of erstwhile head of Chetinad group, MAM Ramaswamy. Based on the complaint, police registered an FIR against 30 persons including Rajendran.

On Tuesday, apprehending arrest, Rajendran and two others moved anticipatory bail applications before the III Additional Sessions Court, Chennai.

When the petitions came up for hearing, sessions judge Kayalvizhi refused to grant bail and dismissed the petitions.
