YuppTV, Sun Network Ink Channel Deal

CHENNAI:  Regional entertainment provider Sun Network and over-the-top (OTT) Indian content provider YuppTV have entered into a partnership to launch 10 channels in four languages in the Middle East and North Africa. OTT refers to delivery of audio, video, and other media over the Internet without the involvement of a middleman. 

The agreement, which was announced by the management of both companies on Tuesday, will see YuppTV delivering Sun Network content through 10 channels-Surya and Kiran (Malayalam), Sun TV, KTV, Sun Music, Adithya TV (Tamil), Gemini TV, Gemini Movies and Gemini Comedy (Telugu) and Udaya TV (Kannada).

“The partnership with Sun Network, one of the largest TV networks in South India, will enable us to curate even more regional entertainment options to add to our library,” pointed out Uday Reddy, founder and CEO, YuppTV. For Sun Network, the partnership is set to improve their presence on digital networks. “This is part of our strategy to beef up our distribution through a variety of OTT platforms worldwide,” said Mahesh Kumar, president, Sun TV Network Ltd.
