Chettinad Vidyalaya Annual Day

Kumara Rani’s Chettinad Vidyalaya celebrated its 30th Annual Day on at  Kumararajah MAM Muthiah Hall. Meena Muthiah, correspondent and secretary, welcomed the gathering. The chief guest  Justice S. Nagamuthu of Madras High Court presided over the function and gave away prizes to the children. The principal S Amudhalakshmi read out the annual report. The progress of the school over its 30 years was depicted through a presentation. The tiny tots entertained the audience with a variety of programmes that included a dance with props, rhythms with claps, a dance depicting the power of Anjanaya and other musicals related to Indian mythology.

Sports Day at Sindhi Model

Sindhi Model Matric HS School at Chetpet organised its 5th annual sports day at Madras University Union Grounds. Secretary Rajalal Nichani took the salute and declared the sports meet open.  He appreciated the students that the march past in four colours of various houses reminded him of  military parade.  Students actively participated in all the track events and won medals. The primary students presented a rhythmic display, students of Classes 6-7 performed yogasanas highlighting the importance of physical fitness and mental health.  There was also a colourful dance by the students expressing their bliss in such activities of the school. Dakshnamurthi, former principal, Sindhi College, distributed the trophies. 

Kingmakers New Branch

KingMakers IAS Academy’s T Nagar branch was inaugurated on January 30. Chief Guest Nandhakumar, joint commissioner, Income Tax, gave the inaugural address. The academy coaches people for UPSC, TNPSC and other competitive examinations

VV Mineral Bags Export Award

Tamil Nadu-based V V Mineral (VVM) has won the Chemicals and Allied Products Export Promotion Council ‘Top Export Award’. The award was conferred at a ceremony attended by top industrial houses in New Delhi. Kalraj Mishra, Union MSME minister, gave the award to V Subramanian, director, VVM. “The foundation of our manufacturing and processing units has always been based on our commitment to quality and sustainability,” he said. 

Sarvodaya Awareness Meet

In order to spread the message of Sarvodaya as propounded by Mahatma Gandhi, the Youth Forum for Gandhian Studies organised an awareness meet at Khadi Gramodyog Bhavan. A large gathering of school children attended the event. The speakers elaborated on the vision of Gandhi and how his preachings are relevant event today.  

New Martial Arts Academy in City

‘The One-Grand Master Of Martial Arts’ started by entrepreneur Jose Charles Martin and Kyoshi KS Sekar aims to revive the lost heritage of martial arts for the current generation. The academy provides a range of courses in traditional and contemporary martial arts. The academy is located on Pycrofts Garden Road, Nungambakkam. People are welcome to watch the training.

Solar Plant at Chennai Port

Alectrona Energy has commissioned the Chennai Port Trust’s first solar power plant of 100KW on the terrace of Port Trust Hospital. The group’s expertise lies in installing mass-scale lighting systems, with more than 50,000 systems installed so far. The plant was inaugurated by MA Bhaskarachar, chairman, Madras Port Trust. The Chennai port has committed to generate of 500 KW solar energy, out of which 100 KW (Phase-I) was commissioned. The prime feature of the project is to reduce 250kg carbon emissions a day, reduce the heat effect in the hospital building. The electricity generated by the newly installed solar plant would be around 500 units which would meet 40% of the power required at the port trust hospital. 

Ladies circle meet

Ladies Circle India Area 2 celebrated “International Girl Child Day” in city. A girl child was given a 1 year free library membership and a bicycle. A hair donation by the girls for the cancer patients under the project “Hair for Hope” was also held
