Action Against corrupt PF Commissioner

Chennai: A month after the CBI arrested Regional Provident Fund Commissioner Durga Prasad on bribery charges, the Centre on Tuesday said departmental action would be initiated against him after a report is received from the investigating agency. According to a senior official with the Union Ministry of Labour and Employment, a final call on the issue would be taken after the investigating agency gives the report in this regard. In mid-January, the Anti-Corruption Bureau of the CBI nabbed Prasad on charges of demanding  `25 lakh bribe to favour an educational institution in misrepresenting the wages of its employees for the purpose of PF deduction or remittance. CBI team intercepted the vehicle in which Prasad was travelling after collecting `14.5 lakh from one of the conduits.
