6L Voters’ Names To Be Deleted: CEO

Chennai: Chief Electoral Officer Rajesh Lakhani said during the drive to correct the accuracy of electoral rolls, 6,46,983 names have been identified for deletion. Of them, 2,84,483 are deceased, 2,58,000 names have been entered more than once. Around 7,500 do not have unique EPIC numbers while 97,000 cases have been filed in Form 7 for deletion. 

200 Students Win #FarmDost Contest

Chennai: Around 200 students, who won the ‘Be a #FarmDost’ School Contest, were felicitated on Sunday. According to a press release, students were required to use seeds provided in the Be a #Farmdost kit to grow plants and share pictures on www.FarmDost.com. The winners were selected on the basis of the highest number of Facebook Likes and Shares. 

Two Arrested for Highway Cigarette Heist

Chennai: Tiruvallur district police on Sunday arrested two persons for waylaying a truck with cigarettes worth `68 lakh. The truck with 150 bundles of cigarettes was transporting the goods to Vellore when it was waylaid near Sriperumbudur. A four-member gang rammed a car into the truck, attacked the driver and pulled him out of the vehicle.
