Rtd Judge nominated as Trust Chairman

CHENNAI:  Justice S Rajes-waran, a retired judge of the Madras High Court, has been nominated as Trustee-cum-Chairman of PT Lee Chengalvaraya Naicker Trust.

He shall hold the post from the date of assuming charge till the end of his tenure on September, 19, 2017, a Division Bench of Justices R Sudhakar and S Vaidyanathan said on February 2.

The Bench was passing orders on the civil miscellaneous petitions arising out of an original side application from the Trust to appoint the chairman, as Justice A K Rajan resigned from the post on January 12 this year.

The Bench reminded the Board of Trustees that they were serving a charitable cause to further the object of the public charitable trust created by philanthropist PT Lee Chengalvaraya Naicker and they were bound to conduct themselves in a manner befitting their stature as a trustee and enhance the Trust’s reputation. The discord among the trustees over the past many years does not augur well for the Trust.
