'Industries Safer Due to State Efforts'

CHENNAI: There has been a reduction in the number of accidents occurring in industrial workplaces because of a number awareness campaigns carried out by the State, said Rural Industries and Labour Minister, P Mohan at the 45th National Safety Day observed here on Friday.

The minister was speaking at a programme jointly organised by the National Safety Council (TN Chapter) and the Labour Department of the state government, to raise awareness about the safety of industrial workers. Inaugurating the programme, Mohan said that the labour workforce was an important factor in the country’s economic growth and placed emphasis on the duty of the management to protect workers from industrial accidents. “The state government is committed to increasing awareness of safety standards in the workplace. As a result, we have seen a decrease in the number of industrial accidents,” the minister added.
