Retro Night With Bedi, Helen and Tagore

Retro Night With Bedi, Helen and Tagore

CHENNAI: It was a memorable evening for the crème de la crème of Chennai and its retro fans, who thronged the Sir Mutha Venkatasubba hall, Chetpet, where a one-of-a-kind live chat-musical ‘The Rendezvous’ brought together Bollywood stars Helen, Kabir Bedi and Sharmila Tagore. Curated by Maam entertainment and sponsored by Titan Raaga, Kabir Bedi played the perfect host of the evening.

The first session was a tête-à-tête between Kabir and Helen, where the latter shared her journey from Burma to reaching Calcutta, and then stepping into the lime light. Sharmila, in the second session, talked about how Bollywood music had changed over time, being an actress of substance and donning a bikini way back in the 60’s.

In between the talk, singers Gaurav Bangia, Surojit Guha, Madhura Datar and Sinchan Dixit crooned to a few popular songs of the stars including Mera Naam Chin Chin Chu and Yeh mera Dil. Samaritans from the city who worked during the Chennai floods were awarded by the Prince of Arcot. A part of the proceeds was donated to Loyola College for flood relief and rehabilitation.
