CHENNAI: Twitter has jumped into the TN poll arena! The social media giant on Tuesday joined hands with Election Commission to make the #TN100percent campaign a big success in the current Assembly elections.

An initiative of Chief Electoral Officer Rajesh Lakhoni, it is first of its kind in the country. Raheel Khursheed, Head - News, Politics, Govt, Twitter India, called on the CEO at the Secretariat held detailed discussions in this regard.

Answering queries of mediapersons, Khursheed  said Twitter’s technical team would be designing an exclusive emoji for Tamil Nadu elections. “Besides, on the polling day (May 16), Twitter will be doing a campaign titled ‘I Voted’. Those who convey via tweet that she/he had exercised their franchise with the hashtag #TN100percent, will be 'presented' with a signed digital poster of celebrities”, he added.

He said Twitter was proud to be associated with Tamil Nadu CEO to help in maximising the #TN100percent campaign. “From now on, we will ensure that the full might of Twitter platform is available to make sure that the message reaches as many people in Tamil Nadu. The campaign would be a sustained one and it will have many components including in product and off product components. We will use all the tools we have with Twitter for this purpose”, Khursheed said and added that #TN100percent campaign had not only became popular in Tamil Nadu but it is being talked about in other parts of the country also.

Stating that the #TN100percent campaign had already been a success on social media, the CEO said “so far, in Twitter, only 30 seconds and 50 seconds video alone could be posted. Now Twitter had agreed to relax this condition for the Tamil Nadu elections. So longer videos can be posted for this campaign.”
