Students Plant 100 Saplings

The students of St Paul’s School planted over 100 saplings at Osian Chlorophyll, a residential project in Porur. The initiative was  part of a campaign to teach kids to ‘grow their own oxygen’ and also included volunteers dressed up as trees, distributing seed packets at traffic junctions nearby. The chief guest was actor Sriya Reddy who planted a sapling as well.      

Honour for Hindustan University

The Hindustan Institute of Technology And Science (HITS) was awarded ‘Best Private University For Research and Innovation of the Year’ by Worldwide Achievers during Asia Education Summit and Excellence Award 2016 in New Delhi for its contribution in the field of education. Ashok Verghese, director, HITS, received the award from Upendra Kushwaha, Minister of State for Education. HITS was recognised for the achievment in a short span in transforming higher education institution into a centre for research in multi-disciplinary areas. 

Pune wins Entrepreneur Award

Pune-based student team Fizzible Tech won the national final of the Entrepreneurs’ Organisation Global Student Entrepreneur Awards (EO GSEA) in Chennai. Detect Technologies and Amruth Foods came second and third respectively. Brian E McElduff, ambassador of Ireland to India, gave away the prizes to winners. Fizzible Tech got Rs 75,000 in prize money and will be going to Bangkok for the international finals to be held in May where it will compete with 50 teams from 50 countries for the top prize of $40,000.

Graduation Day at Venkateswara

Sri Venkateswara College of Technology  (SVCT), Sriperumbudur, celebrated its graduation day. Dr K Manivannan, vice president, Indian Society of Technical Education (ISTE), New Delhi, was the chief guest. In his address, the governing council chairman B Haribabu urged the 2015-batch to become enterpreneurs, practice ethics and follow their passion. Manivannan called upon engineering graduates to become job makers and not job seekers. He said success was a great motivator and failure a good teacher. 

Discount for eBay Customers

Ebay is celebrating its 11th anniversary by offering benefits to its customers. SBI Releases Pension Arrears

State Bank of India announced release of arrears to 7.75 lakhs defence pensioners under One Rank One Pension (OROP) scheme. As per government guidelines, the first instalment to service pensioners and full amount of arrears  to family pensioners and Gallantry Award pensioners were paid on March 14.
