The Alumini Association of the College of Engineering, Guindy honoured Prof N S Srinivasan with the Distinguished Alumnus Award for 2016. He is an expert in traffic and transportation engineering and has carried out extensive research and planning in India and other developing countries.
He served at the Central Road Research Institute, New Delhi, as the head of the traffic and transportation division, and as executive director at National Transportation Planning and Research Centre, Thiruvananthapuram. He has prepared transportation plans for New Delhi, Bengaluru and other cities including the 9th Asian Games, Delhi and 8th World Tamil Conference in Thanjavur.
