CHENNAI: Two history-sheeters were assaulted in different incidents on Monday.In the first incident, Balakrishnan alias Bala (30) of Valluvar Street, Thiruvanmiyur was near the Woodlands Theatre in Royapettah on Monday afternoon at around 2 pm, when he was attacked by a gang. A police officer said Balakrishnan was arrested by the Thiruvanmiyur police four months ago for selling ganja peddling. “In January he sustained a nerve injury and was undergoing treatment for it. On April 6, he was released on bail. On Monday, he came to watch a movie when he was attacked,” said a police source. Triplicane police are investigating.

In the second incident, Bulb Kumar (30) of Mattan Kuppam in Triplicane was waiting in front of the Chindatripet MRTS station when a four-member gang assaulted him.
“At around 6 pm, Kumar was waiting near the station, when he was attacked. The men managed to flee and Kumar was rushed to the Government General Hospital,” said a police source. Both the men are critical and are undergoing treatment at the government hospital.
