College students get a dose of HR reality

CHENNAI: The post graduate department, human resource management, MOP Vaishnav College for Women conducted their second HR conclave, Spectra ‘17 at Hotel GRT grand this weekend. The event was inaugurated by Sujith Kumar, HR business leader, Infosys and the founder and managing trustee of Maatram Foundation. It was presided over by Lalitha Balakrishnan, principal of the college.

Addressing the gathering, Lalitha said, “The aim of this conclave is to offer a glimpse to the students of what the industry expects from you  as professionals and what you can expect from the industry.”
Sujith gave pointers to students about working in HR in his inaugural speech. “Develop a point of view for every issue and stand by it. Learn to interpret data in a useful manner. Embrace technology for information but also value your original ideas.”

The event concluded with a panel discussion between Rajeev Menon, AVP, Cognizant Technology Solutions, Ganapathi Subramanian, head of HR, Sundaram Finance and Prabhu Swaminathan, founder and MD, Lafors Talent Solutions.
