CHENNAI: Amidst all the appreciation the Election Commission has received for appointing highest number of poll observers to keep cash distribution under control in RK Nagar bypolls, electoral reforms group Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) and anti-corruption group Arappor Iyakkam have planned to file a complaint against returning officer Praveen Nair for accepting affidavits from candidates without proper scrutiny.

“Many candidates have undervalued their properties in their affidavits and on Thursday. A complaint will be filed with the returning officer in this regard,” said Jayaram Venkatesan, convener, Arappor Iyakkam. The non-government organisation on Tuesday announced that they will approach the ECI later this week to take necessary action against the returning officer for not adhering to government norms.
Despite repeated efforts, the returning officer was unavailable for comments.
