CHENNAI: Retired judge of Madras High Court Justice D Hariparanthaman will head a fact-finding team to go into Monday's police attacks on Jallikattu protesters at Marina beach and its surrounding places. The team has been constituted by the People's Welfare Alliance (PWA).

Leaders of PWA - G Ramakrishnan (CPM), R Mutharasan (CPI) and Thol. Thirumavalavan (VCK) - announced this to the media after a meeting here on Tuesday.

It may be noted that the retired High Court judge was taken to pacify the protesters at Marina to explain the provisions of the Tamil Nadu government's Jallikattu Bill passed by the Assembly on Monday.

The three-party combine also announced that it would hold demonstrations in Chennai, Madurai and Coimbatore on January 28 to condemn the attacks on the protesters.

The leaders sought the State government to provide a compensation of Rs 25 lakh each for the families of four persons, including a police constable, who died during Jallikattu held at various places.
