Homepreneurs find angel investors here

CHENNAI: In an initiative to empower women, Brand Avatar, a branding and event management company, took the first step to the Homepreuner Awards on Tuesday in the city.
Speaking about it, Hemachandran, founder CEO of Brand Avatar said, “We wanted to create a platform that would create an impact. Most women either do jobs or they stay home, and sometimes managing a job and home may become difficult. Now through the Homepreuner Awards we are offering them a platform to pursue their passion and help them earn.”

The website and registration form was launched today by Suhasini Maniratnam (chief guest) and Karthi Sivakumar (guest of honor) in the presence of an eminent team of jury members. The jury which comprises of women from diverse domains includes Mariazeena Johnson (Pro-chancellor, Sathyabhama University), Hema Rukmani (CEO, Thenendal Entertainment) and Aruna Subramaniam (Trustee, Bhoomika Trust).

Nalina Ramalakshmi, founder of Parent Circle magazine, said that it was a wonderful initiative to allow women to follow their passion. “There will be lot of challenges but coming out successfully in spite of these challenges is the aim.”

Aruna Subramaniam present at the event said this was long overdue and she was proud to be a part of this. “The men at home need to recognise women and accept them,”she added.
The initiative will also see few applicants being selected for investment from an angel investment foundation Native Lead Foundation, which will help expand their individual businesses through mentorship and investment.

“There are so many strong women out there and it is only fair to recognise them and their talents. We are planning to reach out to women in the village too and support their talent and potential and make them successful homepreuners,” said Mariazeena Johnson.
The Awards show will be held in the city on August 6 and will see more than 50 women being awarded for their individual business ventures and activities.
