Loyola alumnus Lt Gen Rajan Ravindran takes over as Commander of Officers' Training Academy

CHENNAI: Lieutinant General Rajan Ravindran today took over as Commandant of Officers' Training Academy (OTA) here. "The General is the senior most serving OTA Alumni and only the second officer from OTA to take over the mantle of this prestigious institution," a PIB (Defence) release said.

During his career, he has held appointments, including Instructor at Indian Military Training Team, Bhutan and has commanded the Independent Mountain Brigade Group, it said. He is recipient of the Vishisht Seva Medal (VSM). He has "vast experience" in Counter Insurgency Operations in Mizoram, Punjab and Assam and has participated in Operation Vijay and Operation Meghdoot, it said.
"Prior to being appointed as Commandant, OTA, Chennai the General was serving as Chief of Staff, Central Command, Lucknow," the release said. He is an alumnus of the city-based Loyola College, it
added.
