NEW DELHI: Passengers of the Delhi-Ernakulam Duronto Express protested at Nizamuddin railway station after a reserved bogie in the train was found missing and railways converted another coach into general. However, railways said that there was some technical snag which led to the situation.

The incident came to light Saturday night when passengers with reservation in S-5 were unable to find their coach and complaints to senior railway officials proved futile as they were told no arrangements can be made at the eleventh hour.

Passengers sat on protest on tracks, leading to delay of 3 hours. As the tracks were blocked, senior officials came and assured that a general bogie can be attached. Passengers opposed the move and demanded refund of tickets as it was a general coach.

According to passengers, they were really upset with the attitude of railway officers as they were not bothered about the plight of children, women and senior citizens.

Railways, however, said that there was some technical snag in the coach and they came to know it in the last minute and passengers were offered option of refund and travel in general coach.

“We adjusted some passengers in vacant births while we asked those interested in travelling in general coach and refund of reserved fare,” said a railway spokesperson.
