NEW DELHI: A Delhi Police head constable attached with the Jaitpur police station today allegedly shot himself dead, officials said.

Devendra Singh, in his fifties, was on emergency duty at 8 pm and had got a service revolver issued for work around 6 pm, the police said.

He went to an isolated place on the banks of Yamuna near Kalindi Kunj bridge in southeast Delhi between 6.30 and 8 pm and shot himself dead, a police official said.

His motorcycle was found parked at the spot where his body was found, the official said, adding no suicide note was recovered.

The official, who did not wish to be named, said it is suspected that there was tension in his family life.

"His brother-in-law had passed away two months back and there was tension in the family," the official said.
