NEW DELHI: Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday sought suggestions from Delhiites on how to ease the restrictions after Lockdown 3.0 ends May 17. Within seven hours, the Delhi government received 3 lakh WhatsApp messages, 25,000 recorded messages and 5,000 emails.

While saying that a complete removal of the lockdown was not feasible at a time when the infection was spreading, Kejriwal sought suggestions from the people on the extent of relaxation and the sectors that should be opened.

People can send in their suggestions on the toll-free number 1031, WhatsApp no. 8800007722 or e-mail at delhicm.suggestions@gmail.com.

As per the plan, the ideas shared by people will be discussed with a team of experts. The Delhi government will consider the 'good' ideas and make a proposal based on them, which will be sent to the Centre by May 15 for approval.

During Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s six-hour-long video-conference with chief ministers on Monday, Kejriwal had suggested that all economic activities be allowed except in the containment zones in Delhi.

Kejriwal has in the past spoken about lifting of lockdown so that economy can get back on track. Delhi government is in favour of opening all markets and offices with full precaution and adherence to social distancing norms.

‘Lockdown can’t be lifted completely’

"The COVID-19 infection is indeed spreading and full removal of lockdown will not be a good idea. But I want your suggestions on the relaxation of lockdown, about the tenure and gravity of the relaxation, on the sectors that should get the relaxation, and whether the public transport system should begin or whether buses, autos, metros should ply," Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said.
