NEW DELHI: Owing to “shortage” of Covishield vaccine and its “limited supply” in the national capital, the Delhi government on Thursday announced that all Covid vaccination slots for this particular jab would be reserved for the second doses till 31 July.

“In view of the limited supply of vaccine, all slots, both for online booking and for walk-in vaccination, in the sessions being planned in government vaccination centres administering Covishield vaccine will be reserved for second dose with immediate effect till July 31, 2021,” said a government order on Thursday.
As on Thursday, the Delhi government said it has a stock of 65,460 doses available.

Thursday’s vaccine bulletin also notified that 63,406 residents were vaccinated on Wednesday with 33,443 of them taking Covishield vaccine and the rest taking Covaxin. On Wednesday, 61,782 vaccine doses were administered, bringing the cumulative vaccination tally to 95,18,167.

Delhi government on Wednesday notified that it received 85,810 doses of Covishield on Tuesday, taking the total number of shots available in the city to 1,08,300. The total number of Covaxin doses available stands at 1,84,390. Only 20 per cent of Covaxin stock can be used for the first dose, since its stock is limited and has irregular delivery cycles.
