Punjab couple injured after portion of Hyatt hotel's roof in southwest Delhi collapses

According to the police, the couple were standing near the pool, located on the ground floor of the hotel, when a portion of a shed collapsed and fell on them, leaving them with minor head injuries.

NEW DELHI: A couple from Punjab was injured after a portion of the roof of the Hyatt Hotel in southwest Delhi collapsed on them, an official said on Tuesday.

The incident took place on Monday evening.

According to the official, a PCR call was received at RK Puram police station at around 9 pm about the roof falling and injury to the husband and wife staying in Hyatt Hotel.

"Immediately the police team rushed to the spot and found that the injured were already shifted to Fortis, Vasant Kunj and a portion of the roof had fallen," Deputy Commissioner of Police (southwest) Rohit Meena said.

The injured were identified as Amit Jain (42), a businessman in Chandigarh, and his wife Reva Jain (32), both residents of Ludhiana, Punjab.

The police said the couple hails from Ludhiana in Punjab and runs a business in Chandigarh. They frequently visit Delhi and stay at Hyatt Regency, they added.

The officer said that the scene was forensically examined, exhibits were lifted and video graphed as per the procedure. "Complaint into the matter has not been received yet. Further necessary action will be taken as per law," the official added.
