NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court has dismissed a plea from Inder Pal Singh Gaba, who challenged his arrest by the NIA for his alleged involvement in protests at the High Commission of India in London.
Gaba had sought release from custody, asserting his arrest was illegal and that he was denied a fair account of the grounds for his detention.
Gaba faces multiple charges, including under Section 13 of the UAPA, Section 3(1) of the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act for vandalism, and Section 2 of the Prevention of Insults to National Honours Act for allegedly disrespecting the Indian flag.
The charges stem from protests held outside the High Commission of India in London in 2023, where demonstrators allegedly chanted anti-India and Khalistani slogans and reportedly damaged property, including dishonouring the national flag.
According to the prosecution, Gaba’s involvement is documented in audio-visual evidence from the March 22 protest.
