NEW DELHI: A 21-year-old man stabbed his wife to death in a car, parked the vehicle at some secluded place with her body in it, and later left the scene of crime half naked.

The sensational incident was reported from the Rajouri Garden area of west Delhi in the late hours of September 1 when a head constable, who was patrolling in the area, saw a man walking in suspicious circumstances without wearing any shirt.

“Head constable Ajay telephonically informed the police station around 1.20 am after which the suspected person was brought to the police station and questioned,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Vichitra Veer said.

During questioning, the suspected person, who was later identified by the cops as Gautam, broke down and admitted to killing his wife and leaving her body in a car.

The cops immediately rushed to the spot and recovered the body of a woman, as per the information the accused provided, from a parked car near Shivaji College. The deceased woman, whose clothes were soaked in her own blood, had multiple stab wounds on her body. Accordingly, based on the circumstances, a case of murder was registered and the accused Gautam was arrested.

During interrogation, Gautam told the police that he and Manya (the deceased woman) had married three months ago but were living separately with their respective parents as they had not informed them about the marriage.

“On Sunday, Gautam came to meet Manya in a car somewhere in Titarpur (Rajouri Garden). At that time, Manya insisted that they should start living together and an argument between them took place in the car itself,” the DCP said.

The argument soon turned violent and Gautam inflicted multiple stab injuries to Manya. After realising that she is dead, he then parked the car near Shivaji college and was escaping when he was apprehended by the police constable.

The DCP said they are verifying the details shared by the accused. The postmortem of the body was due to be conducted on Monday.
