NEW DELHI: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Thursday issued a new notification allowing affiliated schools to make corrections in the details of their registered candidates.
This step aims to ensure accurate results and mark sheets for students. The correction window opened on April 9, 2025, and will remain active until April 17, 2025.
As per the notification, a processing fee of Rs 1,000 per candidate will be applicable for each correction. This amount must be paid by the schools to the respective regional CBSE office. Schools will now be able make the updates during this correction period.
Interchange of mother’s and father’s names, Photo correction, Date of birth updates (as per CBSE rules and valid documents), Changes in the “Single Child” status, Gender correction, Minor changes in the spelling of mother/father’s names will be among the changes that can be made. However, category changes, such as shifting from General to OBC, will not be permitted.
CBSE stated that this facility was introduced after multiple schools submitted incorrect data, despite prior instructions to double-check details before submission. Many institutions later approached the board seeking rectifications, which prompted this corrective window. The board also emphasised that no correction requests will be accepted after April 17, 2025. The final data submitted by schools will be used to prepare student mark sheets and official results.
CBSE has urged all schools to verify that student details, including the name spellings and date of birth, match official school records such as the Admission and Withdrawal Register.
