NEW DELHI: A 36-year-old British woman was allegedly raped by two men at a hotel in southwest Delhi’s Mahipalpur area. The incident, which occurred on Tuesday, was reported to cops on Wednesday, senior officials said.
Police have apprised the British High Commission regarding the incident. However, officials privy to the investigation refused to divulge further details.
The British woman came in contact with Kailash (27) three weeks ago over Instagram and became ‘friends’. She came to India on March 7 and stayed in Goa, a senior officer told this newspaper. The woman asked Kailash to come meet her, but when the accused expressed his inability to travel to Goa, she came to the capital on Tuesday to meet him, and checked in at a hotel in Mahipalpur along with Kailash around 11 am.
The woman told the police that they had drinks and alleged that she was raped by the accused. He later left the hotel in the night. “When she felt uneasy in the morning, she visited a hospital where she underwent medical checkups, following which police were informed. When police arrived, the woman reported the incident,” the official said, adding that Kailash (27), a Class XII pass out, used to communicate with the British woman with a translation applications as he was not good in English.
According to the police, the woman said she checked into the hotel with the accused. After he left, she came downstairs and was talking to the people at the reception, when one of them asked a person to take her up to her room.
The woman alleged that when the person was taking her to her room, he inappropriately touched her in the hotel lift. The officer said based on the complaint by the woman, a case has been registered at Vasant Kunj police station.
