HYDERABAD:  The third additional chief metropolitan magistrate Court at Nampally, on Saturday, remanded actress Tara Chowdary,  who was arrested on the charges of running a prostitution racket, to police custody from April 8 to 11.

While issuing the orders, the court directed the Banjara Hills police to produce her in the court on April 12. Earlier, the Banjara Hills police sought 7 days of custody of her for further investigation into the case. However, the court gave the police only four days of custody.  The court also directed the police to question her between 10 a.m and 5 p.m.

The Banjara Hills police claimed that Tara Chowdary was forcing young girls into prostitution. She is also understood to have been using her picture with former chief minister late Y S Rajasekhara Reddy to commit the offences, according to the police.

The actress was arrested based on a complaint filed by a 20-year-old sales woman Srilakshmi, from Visakhapatnam, who claimed that she was forced into prostitution by Tara, who lured her on the pretext of giving her a job.  Police also recovered a laptop, some CDs and Tara's personal dairy from her house.
