Four arrested for furnisher’s murder

HYDERABAD: Vanasthalipuram police on Monday arrested four persons in connection with the murder of Shaik Jahangir, owner of a furniture store, Wood World, at Wahabnagar in Old Malakpet recently. Another accused is still absconding. One live 12 bore round and Rs 11,000 in cash and a motorcycle were recovered from the accused.

According to the police, an illicit affair led to the killing of Jahangir while he was walking back to his shop from a bar. Two strangers, who had been following him, fired at him from a close range with a tapancha. On hearing the gunshots, passers-by rushed to the victim and shifted him to Kamineni Hospital. After battling for life for over three hours, Jahangir succumbed to the bullet wounds. Shaik Khareem, brother of Jahangir, lodged a complaint with the Vanasthalipuram police.

The arrested are Pathan Kareemulla of Indira Nagar Colony, Moosarambagh and native of Davuluru in Kollipara mandal in Guntur district; Syed Sadiq Basha, auto driver and resident of new Patel Nagar Colony, Amberpet;  Shaik Balayapally Mahaboob Shareef alias Mental Shareef of Tamballapalli near Ramapuram in Kalsapad mandal in Kadapa district; and Shaik Baragajji Mahaboob Shareef alias Chitka, also of Tamballapalli.

Jayaram Reddy of Reddypally in Kalasapadu mandal in Kadapa district is still absconding.

The accused were apprehended in the house of Syed Sadiq Basha at New Patel Nagar in Amberpet,  inspector Ravindra Reddy said. They were produced in court and remanded.
