HYDERABAD: Minister for secondary and intermediate education, K Parthasarathy  condemned reports that appeared in a section of media, that rules and regulations were violated in appointment of district education officers (DEOs).

Addressing a press conference at the Secretariat on Monday, he said that transparency has been maintained in all appointments without giving room for suspicion.

Before recruitment, he said candidates' abilities, experience in education field and qualification have been taken into consideration. Condemning media reports that the posts were "sold" for a fixed price in the market, he said that there was no truth in the report and the media had created such stories just to get mileage.

Responding to allegations against Mahbubnagar DEO, he said that the government would initiate serious disciplinary action, if allegations against the DEO were proven.

Parthasarathy informed that the govt has initiated steps to fill all vacant posts of mandal education officers (MEOs) in the state.

The minister said that there is provision for direct recruitment to the extent of 30 percent.
