HYDERABAD: The state government has ordered ban on fishing operations by mechanised vessels and crafts with outboard and inboard engines along coast of Andhra Pradesh from April 15 to  May 31. Non-motorised crafts have been excluded.

The implementation of ban on marine fishing was done under the AP Marine Fishing Regulation Act.  The ban orders was issued as per directives by ministry of agriculture. The ban will also be for waters surrounding Andaman and Nicobar Islands and territorial waters on west coast from June 15 to July 31 July. Also included are Lakshadweep Islands. This ban is for conservation of fishery resources and also for sea safety reasons.
